The Wingless Bird - episode synopsis

• Episode 1 - Agnes Conway is a disenchanted young woman, working in the family sweet shop and longing for love. The Christmas of 1913 brings changes though, with the arrival in her life of Charles Farrier, and a family crisis that threatens to have terrible consequences

• Episode 2 - The romance between Angnes and Charles blossoms after a chance meeting in Durham, but there is violent opposition to their relationship from both families. Charles decides to take digs near to Agnes, but the squalid conditions bring on a serious illness

• Episode 3 - Charles recovers from tuberculosis at a sanatorium while the country goes to war. Agnes is shocked when Reg returns from the front a changed man. She moves into the hall to become mistress of the house following a tragic accident
