Clarissa - episode synopsis

Below is a synopsis for each episode of Clarissa:

• Episode 1 - Clarissa Harlowe is made a prisoner by her family when she refuses to marry the odious Roger Solmes, a man she despises. Intrigued by her beauty and virtue, the rakish Lovelace offers her a chance of escape: to run away with him. He insists that his intentions are honourable, but his true aim is seduction

• Episode 2 - In a desperate bid to escape the marriage planned by her family, Clarissa has run away with the aristocratic rake Lovelace, but is still suspicious of Lovelace's intentions. A change of lodgings serves to unsettle Clarissa further, especially when she meets her new landlady, Mrs Sinclair

• Episode 3 - It seems Clarissa has at last found a protector in Lovelace's aunt, Lady Betty, but she is soon thrown back on her own resources. Meanwhile, Lovelace is left to ponder his actions - and his fate
